Bug? OE cuts the link at %E4

A link like this works just fine with other mail clients:
http://www.sonera.fi/Puhelin%20ja%20liittym%E4/

XP SP3 english, IE 7, all latest patches. I tested with several computers.

Does the link take you to http://www.sonera.fi/Puhelin%20ja%20liittym/
or http://www.sonera.fi/Puhelin%20ja%20liittym%E4/ ?

When I take mouse pointer over the link, it is already like this:
http://www.sonera.fi/Puhelin%20ja%20liittym/ (check the bar at the bottom of
the window) ie. %E4 has disapperead and it does not launch correctly in the
browser either. Even "Copy Shortcut" does this.

It worked in WLM but in my OE the %E4 didn't work.

Re: Bug? OE cuts the link at %E4

With XP SP3 and IE6, it works fine in my OE with Read All Messages In
Plain Text selected. But if I switch the message to HTML mode
(ALT+Shift+H) the %E4 gets dropped.

The difference between those two modes is which DLL interprets the
message. For security reasons, the Read All Messages in Plain Text uses
the RICHED DLL rather than MSHTML DLL. RICHED has much less
functionality than MSHTML and so is less likely to have security holes.

Although why MSHTML would have problems with the %E4, which is just an
accented character, I don't know.

With my Windows Live Mail, it works fine in either mode.

So it seems.

It is a bug and I would gladly report it, if it were a simple task. I have
already some experience in reporting bugs to MS, but I won't go through all
that anymore (several phone calls, waiting...). I hope they pick it up here,
but I guess they won't.

Re: Bug? OE cuts the link at %E4

OE is no longer in development. The only bugs Microsoft will fix in OE
at this time are security bugs. So the chances of this getting fixed
are essentially zero.

There is the possibility of it getting accidentally fixed when the fix
something else. But don't hold your breath.
