Sending/Forwarding gif images

Why is it, that when I receive emails with jpeg attachments and want to
forward them on, I can see the jpeg in the attachment line, and all is well
when I send them on.

Today I received an email with gif images and when I hit forward to send to
a friend, the gif images do not show in the attachment line, like the jpegs
do. If I double click the email, all the gif images show in the attachment
line. As soon as I click on forward again they won't appear in the
attachment line and will not show at the recipients end. ( they do not
receive the images in the message body, just red 'x's") If I send this email
as an attachment only, it will work fine.

I like to be able to send emails as I receive them. Just click forward and
send. For some reason gif images must be send as an attachment only, not the
way I received it. This means the person at the other end has to open up
the paper clip which I didn't have to do.

The way I received it, was I clicked and opened my email, and it was all
there.

I am using WinXP SP3, OE6, Send pictures with messages is checked. When I
sent the message to myself, I received the message body in html format with
red "x's" where the images were to have been. I am not blocking images
either.

I do not recollect having this issue before, but I seemed to have this issue
arise after doing a Windows update, but I am not certain. Thanks to anyone
who can help me understand what the issue is.

Re: Sending/Forwarding gif images

GIF and JPG images should be treated the same way.

You can try the fix here, in case some program screwed up the registry
for GIF images.

Mike:

Thanks for your reply, but I was not able to determine which fix it was that
you were referring to.

Could you clarify? Thanks.
