Click on Browse, Program Files, Outlook Express, msimn.exe.

Re: Associating OE with eml
Thanks Bob...that worked. I still have both Windows Live and OE installed.
Following MS suggestion to install Windows Live for two of my msn accounts is why both are installed. OE is still the default. Once I opend File Types, found EML type file, I did the restore for that file even thought it was shown as outlook express default. Now works like it used to....thanks to all. Re: Associating OE with eml
You just stated that OE is the default for eml files.
The eml open action is "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /eml:%1 Your ps doesn't make any sense. When you click on Browse and go to C:\Program Files\Outlook Express, there has to be msimn.exe. -- Ronald Sommer "Meebers" <justme@idontkno.com> wrote in message news:#5#bYV16IHA.3696@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > p.s. under browse there was no msimn.exe choice for open with. > > "Meebers" <justme@idontkno.com> wrote in message > news:%23IAb7S16IHA.1428@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >> Thanks Bob...that worked. Re: Associating OE with eml
The ps is correct in one respect. The installation of Windows Live Mail
changes the status of Outlook Express and one unexpected result is the removal of Outlook Express from the list of recommended programs for EML files. I agree you can use the "Save As" option; browse to C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe - and tick the box marked "always use the selected program to open this kind of file". However, I found that the installation of WLMail had also changed the EML open command - so even though I had restored OE6 as the default email program, my computer still tried to open messages in WLMail, when I clicked on links to open attached message files. I then discovered that the File Types menu still wanted to use WLMail to open files - and would not allow me to change the open command back to "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /eml:%1. The solution to both problems is to click on Start / Run, followed by msimn.exe /reg. This restores Outlook Express to the list of recommended files - and allows you to change the File Types open command. Incidentally, I should have mentioned that you will probably need to restore the open command for NWS files, as well as for EML files.
