Is it possible to pull in @live.com emails to OE?

I have a hotmail account, which is @live.com. Can I program my OE to bring
in those emails from Microsoft? Thank you...

XP PRO, SR2++; Office 2003, OE 6 -- all updates current.

Re: Is it possible to pull in @live.com emails to OE?

My guess is not, but I don't know for sure.

Microsoft's new darling of the free e-mail programs is Windows Live Mail
(WLM). It's the successor for both Outlook Express on Windows XP and
Windows Mail on Vista. WLM does handle live.com accounts. It's now out
of beta and available at get.live.com

TY...I have it, already, and its not Beta. We can pull in hotmail on OE, so
I was wondering about other MS email accounts, like @live.com...there's no
more @hotmail.com options available.

Re: Is it possible to pull in @live.com emails to OE?

I found this in the Live.com help section. Note that it specifically
says Windows Live Hotmail PLUS subscription

Add your e-mail account to Microsoft Outlook Express
If you have a Windows Live Hotmail Plus subscription, you can use a POP3
(POP3, or Post Office Protocol 3, is a protocol that's used to retrieve
e-mail from a mail server.) server to add your Windows Live Hotmail
account to Microsoft Outlook Express and access messages there. If you
download and install Windows Live Mail, you can add your Windows Live
Hotmail account to Windows Live Mail and access your messages and
contacts there.

Use a POP3 server to add your Windows Live Hotmail account to Outlook
Express
Open Outlook Express.
On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
Click Add, and then click Mail.
Type your name, and then click Next.
Type your full Windows Live Hotmail e-mail address, and then click Next.
In the My incoming mail server is a box, select POP3.
In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server box, type
pop3.live.com.
In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box, type smtp.live.com, and then
click Next.
Type the account name and the password for your Windows Live Hotmail
account. Clear the Remember password check box unless you're the only
person with access to the computer. Make sure that the Log on using
Secure Password Authentication (SPA) check box is not selected.
Click Next, and then click Finish.
In the Internet Accounts window, on the Mail tab, click the Windows Live
Hotmail account that you added, and then click Properties.
On the Advanced tab, under Server Port Numbers, in the Incoming server
(POP3) box, type 995. In the Outgoing server (SMTP) box, type 25. Under
both Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3), select the This
server requires a secure connection (SSL) check boxes, and then click
OK.
Click Close.

You can access your name@live.com, name@hotmail.com, and/or name@msn.com
account(s) in OE if you subscribe to either Hotmail Plus or MSN Premium.
Otherwise, no.

TY immensely ... I now understand the usual step I'm missing. I've done it
before with just Hotmail...but eons ago. TY, again.

Re: Is it possible to pull in @live.com emails to OE?

I'll double-check that...I know I upgraded to something -- only use a web
mail for subscriptions and online entering email address, etc. ;-)) Thank
you, for helping once again. If this isn't possible, MS is missing a "bet."

Re: Is it possible to pull in @live.com emails to OE?

Missing a bet? No, they're interested in the bottom line.

You do have 2 no-cost options, though:

1. Use Outlook Connector beta to access the account(s) in MS Outlook (not
OE).

2. Install free (but ad-supported) Windows Live Mail (no longer in beta) as
your default Mail Client. You'll be able to access your MSN/Hotmail
accounts as well as any POP3 accounts. WLMail also includes a newsreader.

NB: Windows Live Mail, Windows Live Hotmail, and Windows Mail (Vista) are 3
separate applications.
