Hi...

I have this problem with my PST file and its related to a faulty sector,
i.e. an physical error in one of the sector containing the PST file.

Copying the file produces an error message, and the process is halted

But it seems that everything is working in Outlook.
Is there a way to back up my PST file to another location from within
Outlook?

I run Win XP Pro and Office 2007

Yes, you can use the import/export wizard to move existing data between
personal data files. The import/export option is under the file menu.

Ahhh... tried that earlier, but failed in the attempt, but by utilizing my
third brain cell in addition to the two already overworked ones, I managed
to complete the journey...

Be advised, the .PST import/export function in Outlook has some significant
issues:

Importing a .PST loses the following information:

1. Custom Forms
2. Custom Views
3. Connections between contacts and activities
4. Received dates on mail
5. Birthdays and anniversaries in calendar
6. Journal connections
7. Distribution Lists

It also has the nasty habit of corrupting the Outlook profile in use. It's
much safer to create a new .PST file, then drag and drop the contents of the
damaged file into it; you can make a backup of the new .PST file simply by
copying it with Outlook closed. Should you need data out of the backup,
don't use Import, open the backup file with 'File|Open|Outlook Data File'
and drag what you need back.
