Thanks... it is my "Modified Date" that is preventing it.

The outlook.pst file is modified with the current date every time I use
Outlook. I followed your link, yet I still cannot archive items in my calendar. Any other suggestions? the outlook.pst file will always change when it's opened - autoarchive uses
the modified date of an item within the pst. No, I am not syncing or using calendar data in another application. When I try to manually backup Outlook, it looks like Outlook cannot find the personal.pst file to backup, since the "save backup" button is greyed and inside the backup wondow I see the comment "No files set for backup".
