Data file check in progress
Office OL 2007
Win XP Pro SP2 Apparently, Outlook "closed improperly" the other day. I can't remember exactly why. When I restarted OL, I got the "usual" alert that it had closed improperly, that the file would undergo whatever check occurs when that happens, and that the system performance may be affected during the check. The lower righthand of the screen showed an icon with two gears, and hovering the mouse over the icon produced the tip "Data file in progress." This went on for several minutes and then it disappeared. Now, on restarting OL again, it's still checking. After a couple of times of this behavious, I ran the scanpst on my PST file. It reported that only minor errors were found and corrected. On restarting OL bingo, no error message, but within a couple of "sessions" (opening and closing OL) the PST somehow getīs corrupted again. I tried exporting all my data to a new PST, but again, it eventually develops this corruption issue and I get the data file check in progress error message. Any ideas? Thanks. |

What is the file size (in number of bytes) for the .pst file? Maybe it is at or over 2GB in size and you are still using an old ASCII format PST file instead of having converted to a Unicode format PST file. The old format had a 2GB (1.87GiB) limit in size. If you are using the old format, everytime you add some more to the previously repaired file then it gets oversized and corrupted again so it has to be repaired again. |

What format is this .pst file? Is this an upgrade from a prior version of
Outlook? How big is the .pst file? -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact.
