Until about 2 weeks ago I was perfectly happy with ActiveSync
synchronizing my HTC TyTN II with my Windows XP/Outlook XP laptop, but
now this combination suddenly has developed the nasty habit, that about
every second time, when I connect, it declares, that synchronization is
screwed up (my words) and asks me whether I want to merge the data of
the device and this computer or whether I want to replace all data on
one device with the data on the other and in which direction the replace
should take place.

This full replacement is not only tediously long (it takes about 15-20
minutes instead of the "normal" 1-2 minutes), one also has to confirm
the overwriting multiple times (for different types of data like files,
calendar, tasks, etc.) and of course this does not really *sync* the
data but rather overwrites one device's data set with the other's, so if
one happens to have changed data on both since the last sync, then one
devices modifications are lost.

Can one somehow stop this craze and force AS to do a proper resync such
that if afterwards considers both sides as in sync again? What could
possibly cause AS to repeatedly consider things to be so fatally out of
sync that it thinks it can only recover by taking that last resort and
resync all?

I have thsi from time to time but I mainly synchronized over the air
not via USB. Not sure where this come from but much intrested in
finding out.

I had not seen this in a long time on my 8525, but it started appearing on a
regular basis.

Un tended email had filled several MBs of device space leaving too little.
Purging to clear more memory stopped the problem.

I actually think, that may also have been my problem. It suddenly
stopped again and only later I realized, I had done some cleanup and had
deleted a couple of large files recently, so that my free space now
shows >10MB again. So, maybe, that was the reason here as well...

The issue of actually synching deleted email on the device seems to be a
problem on my Mobile 5/6 devices.

I have been transferring all email accounts to 'the cloud' to seem if
deleted items will synch better.

I transferred an Outlook business email account to Yahoo from Charter. So
the emails would be available via the Mobile devices, I elected to not
delete an email from the server after download to Outlook. The repercussion
is I have to delete emails twice, but that's a small price for access
anywhere and automatic filing by account.
