map Java programs to shortcuts
Is there a way in WM6/6.1 to map a java program to a button or
shortcut on my phone? So that it appears in my Programs folder or app launcher, instead of having to always launch the Java program launcher first? It's a feature that I found particularly useful in Nokia's S60 Symbian GUI. |

Re: map Java programs to shortcuts
Have you tried simply to create a shortcut to the jar file?
Find the file with file explorer, highlight and copy it, then move to the programs folder and select menu/pasteshortcut If it runs when tapped from the start/programs menu, you should be able to then assign the shortcut to any programmable (i.e. nonphone) button. Trouble is, I'm having trouble finding where the Java program manager stores its files. I guess once I figure that out, finding .jar files should be pretty simple. |

Thanks. You can't do it directly from WM. It looks like you need to use Windows Explorer on your desktop to create a shortcut to the midlet manager .exe, and specify the name or position of the midlet as an option. I'll try it later, and see how it works. |

This has also been explained in my MIDlet Bible. See my blog.
