Network Connections

I installed a program, Worldmate Pro to see what it's like. In order to say,
update weather forecasts or check airline schedules etc. it needs a network
connection. Fine. But I can't get it to connect.

The PDA, a HP iPaq 112 running Windows Mob 6 is connected via USB to the PC
running ActiveSync 4.5.

The network is connected as another program, AvantGo can log into its server to
update its information.

There are two methods to connect. They are:

My Work Network
My ISP.

If I choose the ISP option then the program tries to dial my ISP. But as it's
not a phone the PDA can't connect, obviously.

If I choose the Network option then it simply says that there is no network
connection available and to synch the PDA, which activesync does by itself
anyway on a regular basis.

The version that I'm trialling is Worldmate Pro 2006. I had it installed on the
PDA but I removed it when I updated to Worldmate Live, a new product. But that
was causing the PDA to bog down, run slow and also to pop up those annoying
"cannot dial ISP" messages.

Right now my solution is to remove the software and to use my phone's build in
world time thingy, which is the main reason why I installed Worldmate - for its
world clocks.

What can people suggest to fix this? Or failing that, what's a good World Time
Clock program, other than Worldmate?

Thanks.

Have you checked out CityTime at http://codecity.net/ ? And have
you contacted the makers of Worldmate? While most people are
moving to phone devices, there is no excuse for them only
allowing it to work on an always connected device. They might
welcome the feedback and test/fix it so it properly works on a
PDA that only connects via ActiveSync or WiFi.

No, I was not aware of it. I shall do so now.

Yes. I haven't heard anything yet. Thing is I thought it was a configuration
problem with the PDA and WM6's wireless/connection manager. ie. something that I
need to correct at this end.
