My computer has been getting daily downloads for days now. I don't know
where they are coming from, Microsoft I assume. When I shut down for the day
there is an icon that says downloads will begin when I shut down and not to
turn off the computer, it will turn off by itself. This is nearly everytime
I shut down.

Any thoughts, suggestions would be welcome

First suggestion is to find an appropriate forum- this newsgroup is
concerned with Windows Mobile-based PDAs and mobile phones! ;-)

As to your problem, Microsoft hasn't been sending files daily via Window
Update, so my guess is that one of the updates is not installing correctly,
so it is trying to reinstall each day at shutdown.

Go to update.microsoft.com and check your installation history and see if
there are any errors.
