Upgrading to new-to-me PPC
Hello all,
Searched this group & found similar discussion but I still need a little more help. I currently am using a iPaq h5450 but I just acquired, what I believe is, an iPaq hw6500-series. I understand I will have to create its (the hw6500) own ActiveSync partnership & I will have to reload all the programs that I currently use on the h5450. What would be the easiest way to move the data files from one to the other? IR while going directory by directory with Explorer? Moving files to an SD card? How should handle Appointments, Contacts, Tasks, etc? What is the most painless way to transfer that data? When I'm done moving everything I will be handing the h5450 to my daughter; should I do a hard reset then establish another relationship with ActiveSync so my current data on the PC isn't accidently loaded back to the h5450? Any other ideas or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks for all the help. R |

Re: Upgrading to new-to-me PPC
Hello,
If you are moving data files around you could just move them to a SD card. Another option would be to use the File feature in ActiveSync. If the files are in your My Documents directory on the old device, they will be synchronized to your desktop via ActiveSync. Then you can copy them over to the new device by using the same method (Drag-and-drop from the old device's folder on your desktop to the new one). If you are synchronizing Calendar, Contacts and Tasks with ActiveSync now then when you synchronize your new device they will be copied over. Finally, yes, do a hard reset and re-establish a new partnership in ActiveSync. I would go a step further and delete the old partnership in AS as well.
