How can I use my cell phone as a modem for my HP iPAQ 2795b?
I am trying to use my t-mobile cell phone as a modem for my hp ipaq 2795b,
the bluetooth works great, but in order to connect to the internet the ipaq asks for a username, password and domain name. I contacted t-mobile and they said to leave the username and password fields blank, but they could not provide a domain name, only an 'APN.' I tried the APN but it doesn't work. Neither T-mobile or HP tech support seems to know what to do. Does anyone know which domain name I can use to connect? Has anyone else run into this problem? |

Leave the domain name blank. I assume you're dialing *99# for the phone number? If by "T-Mobile" you mean T-Mobile USA, in the modem extra dial string command (in the PPC's modem connection setup) try: AT+cgdcont=1,”IP”,”internet2.voicestream.com”,””,0 ,0 if you're on the $19.99/month internet plan. Replace "internet2.voicestream.com" with "wap.voicestream.com" if you're on the $5.99 T-Zones/T-Mo Web plan. The $5.99 plan also requires that you set the proxy server for your connection to 216.155.165.50, port 8080. |
