Disable New eMail Notifications

I get quite a lot of mails to my GMail account which I have connected
up on my TyTn2. I've got it checking for new email every hour or so.
This is great, but everytime this happens I get a little pop-up that
tells me I have new email which I have to Dismiss. Can I disable this
as I prefer to just look at the unread message count instead.

TIA,

Colin

Simply turn off "check for emails every..." then manually connect check
for emails when convenient for you.

Hi Beverly,

Thanks for posting.

Are you saying I cant disable the notification? I still want the
phoen to connect and get my email. I just dont want to be told I have
new mail because 9 times out of 10 I will have. All I want is for the
display ribbon to update the new message count for me.

I cant see any direct way to turn off the notification, but was
wondering if there is a setting in the registry that can do the job.

TIA

Colin

Re: Disable New eMail Notifications

afaik, there is no way to turn off the notifications...

since your mail load is low, my suggestion is to turn off the hourly
automatic pickup and simply tap the lower right icon in messenger to
pickup messages...

....doing so has the penalty of making you wait a few seconds and the
benefit of getting all mail each time you check.

See if you have options at

start/settings/sounds.../notifications/messaging-email

Aha! I'll have to wait to see if it works, but there is an option in
there under 'Messaging: New email message' for 'Display Message On
Screen', which I have unticked. I'm pretty certain this is what I was
after.

Many thanks Beverly!

Start|Settings|Sounds and NOtifications. Peruse through the "New
Mail" settings. This will impact all email inboxes (not SMS/MMS,
which have their own settings)
