Help me connect to my wireless router?
I have a Buffalo WBMR-G54 wireless router that I'm trying to connect
my IPAQ rx 3715 to. The IPAQ runs windows mobile 2003 SE. The PDA's wireless icon is flashing at the top of the screen but that's as far as I seem able to get. I've been into the Settings menu, got into Configure Wireless Networks where I see my Router which is marked "available", Networks to Access shows "All available" and Automatically Connect to non-preferred networks is ticked. If I go to Configure Network Adaptors it shows: Connects to the internet and the following adaptors are shown below AsyncMAC NDISWAN Miniport, PPTP NDISWAN Miniport, HP IPAQ Wi-Fi Adaptor, Bluetooth PAN User Driver I've read and tried everything I can think of and would be very grateful for some help. (Where it says "available," tap-n-hold, choose "connect." If that doesn't work, you mibght check the router's settings to see if it disallows 802.11b connections (for increeased speed, the router might be set to "G" only. You want "B&G" or "compatiblity mode." Failing that, it just might be a compatibility "bug." I used to use a D- Link router that just plain refused to connect with my Dell Axim X5. I downloaded new firmware for the router from D-Link's website and never had the problem again. You might try and see if there's new firmware available for your router. |

If you're using WAP encryption, that is likely the problem; I'm pretty sure WM 2003 does not support it (it does support WEP). If you're using MAC address filtering and haven't added the address for your iPAQ's wireless, that would surely cause problems. I definitely recommend using the strongest security available, although connecting a new device can be a pain. ----------------------------------------- To reply to me, remove the underscores (_) from my email address (and please indicate which newsgroup and message). Re: Help me connect to my wireless router?
Thank you both for your help. I succeeded in the end!
Annoyingly, my problem turned out to be an incorrectly entered WEP key, I think.
