Cannot send mail
I'm using a Samsung i760 (Verizon) running Windows Mobile 6 (CE OS
5.2.979 - Build 17233.0.1.1). We are using Zimbra at work and I've set the account up in the "Messaging" program on the phone. I have the settings set via IMAP (not as an exchange server) and it receives all the mail just fine, however when I send the error I get is: "The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. Then try sending again." We have watched the logs on the server and it's only sent 4 packets and then just dies. Doesnt even send enough data to get to the authentication phase. I've tried this on Gmail's SMTP server as well and the same behavior. Does anyone have any insight on this? I'd rather not use the "exchange" type connection. ::CORY:: |

Re: Cannot send mail
I should also add that we have other Windows Mobile users on our system
here at work and they can send. We've gone thru the settings on the phones and everything looks identical. ::CORY:: wrote: > I'm using a Samsung i760 (Verizon) running Windows Mobile 6 (CE OS > 5.2.979 - Build 17233.0.1.1). > > We are using Zimbra at work and I've set the account up in the > "Messaging" program on the phone. Do these other users use Verizon as a cellular provider as well? Some cell providers block access to "foriegn" SMTP servers, requiring that you use their own server instead. Others block certain ports (i.e. 587 might be blocked, but 25 works or vice-versa.) > I'm using a Samsung i760 (Verizon) running Windows Mobile 6 > (CE OS 5.2.979 - Build 17233.0.1.1). > > We are using Zimbra at work and I've set the account up in the > "Messaging" program on the phone. I've had that happen when my username or server name had a space accidentally appended to the end. > We have watched the logs on the server and it's only sent 4 packets > and then just dies. Seeing both failed, I suspect the culprit is Verizon- they might require you to use a Verzion SMTP server when on celular. (Which is a pain in the a** if you regularly switch between cellular and a private network! You either need to configure the messaging app to always use celular, or create two acounts on the device for each mailbox- one for when on cellular, and one when on a private network. Check with Veizon and see ithey require users to use a Verizon SMTP server... Good luck! |

Re: Cannot send mail
I am experiencing the same problem.
I connect to 4 accounts - 3 are Courier/qmail (IMAP) and 1 is Exchange (IMAP) - this is the one that triggers the error. The only workaround is to delete the account and recreate it which will last 2-3 weeks before it triggers again. Resetting the phone does nothing to help. This has become such a problem that I cannot use Pocket Outlook. I am currently evaluating Flexmail and it does not have any problems with the same 4 accounts, nor does my Mac (Mail) or Thunderbird. I sincerely hope that this is fixed - I prefer to use Pocket Outlook, but only if it works! .../mk |
