Sync folder name?
This probably stems from a full restore of WM on my iPAQ 2210 plus
reinstallation of AS some months ago, but I've only just noticed it.My PPC is named 'Pocket_PC', the name it's always had since I bought it years ago, as you see here: http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/1218/ppc2iw0.jpg However, the files that are getting synchronised are in 'WM_Terry My Documents'. That's what I see if I go to Tools > Options and look under Files > Settings: http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/9895/ppc1ot7.jpg Why are these names different? How can I change one or the other please? Ideally I'd like to call the AS sync folder 'Pocket_PC My Documents' again. -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK |

Re: Sync folder name?
Hi,
With the newer releases of ActiveSync and Windows Mobile Device Center, they name the device WM_[username]. You can try renaming your device however from my experience there is no easy way to change the name permanently. You can try changing the registry for the folder however this is not supported. -- Chris De Herrera http://www.pocketpcfaq.com http://www.pocketpctalk.com http://www.tabletpctalk.com http://www.mobilitytalk.com "Terry Pinnell" <terrypinDELETE@THESEdial.pipex.com> wrote in message news:2gf374tj493guvlnitc63bqr7qlugqjop9@4ax.com... > This probably stems from a full restore of WM on my iPAQ 2210 plus > reinstallation of AS some months ago, but I've only just noticed it.My > PPC is named 'Pocket_PC', the name it's always had since I bought it > years ago, as you see here: > http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/1218/ppc2iw0.jpg > > However, the files that are getting synchronised are in 'WM_Terry My > Documents'. Thanks Chris. It's not a major issue, so I'll live with those different names, although for neatness I'd rather not! At least I've now spotted the inconsistency and deleted the redundant \Pocket_PC folder once I realised its files weren't getting updated. There are quite a lot of registry entries (hits for both 'Pocket_PC' and 'WM_2003') and I'm tempted to change one or the other set - but I think I'll pass for now! -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK |
