Reminder changes in OL 2003 not properly sync'ed with WM 6 device

Can anyone comment on what I think is a bug in the way that ActiveSync
handles changes in due date/time of tasks and email flags. Are there
workarounds? Should this bug be reported to MS? How?

A few weeks ago, I wrote about a problem I had with endless numbers of
reminders on my PPC, which is a Samsung Blackjack II running WM 6. It
seemed that every single minute, my PPC would display a very long list
of reminders, interrupting anything I was trying to do on my PPC. My
PPC became almost useless. Even Samsung level 3 support couldn't offer
a solution.

Recently I reset my PPC to factory-new condition and established a new
partnership with the OL 2003 running on my laptop. (I get my email
from an ISP, not from Exchange, if that matters.)

Now I have only a few, perhaps 10, reminders at the most. With such a
manageable list I have observed the following results on my PPC after
manually sync'ing to ensure that I have no unsync'ed items:

Before doing the manual sync operation, I have cleared out all the
items in my OL Reminders window. The reminders come from two sources:
Outlook Tasks and Outlook email notes with the Followup Flag set.

I cleared out the items either by completing the tasks or clearing the
email flags. Or, I change the due date/time to a future date/time. On
my PC, this has the effect of removing all the items from the
Reminders Window.

However, on my PPC, these reminders remain. In some cases, there are
2 or even 3 instances of the same reminder on my PPC.

Also, I created a "dummy" task in Outlook, with the time due of
several hours before now, yet that task does NOT show up in the PPC
list, even a half hour after the task was first created and many
manual sync operations later.

I'm not trying to debug ActiveSync 4.5, but I _suspect_ that once
ActiveSync puts a reminder on my PPC, it doesn't remove it unless the
item is fished/cleared out in Outlook on my PC.

Some more information relative to the problems below.

This sounds like a bug or an incomplete implementation of a feature.
Can any of the Microsoft MVPs help me to report this to Microsoft. If
you can, please post here and I will contact you offlist. Certainly
the "use case" in a product management sense was not understood.

If I 'reschedule' a task by changing the date, or if it is a recurring
task, the same task shows up a second time in my PPC, as though it
were an entirely different item.

Indeed, if there are reminders that show up only in my PPC but not in
my Outlook reminders window, I can safely DISMISS these reminders on
my PPC, do another SYNC, and those tasks will still show up in my
Outlook Tasks list (at the correct time).

Re: Reminder changes in OL 2003 not properly sync'ed with WM 6 device

Hi,
Reminders are not synchronized. I too get them on my mobile device and PC
even after I respond to them. There is no workaround for this that I am
aware of.

You can report this to Microsoft via mswish@microsoft.com .

Sincerely,

thank you, thank you. Finally, a confirmation that I'm not imagining
all this.
