AS crashes, error in WCESmgr.exe, INKstore.dll, 0x86000107
I have a Palm 800w phone and OL 2003 on two pc's. I have used a third party
(Chapura KeySuite) program + HotSync for a Palm Zire to keep the two PCs' notes, tasks, contacts, and calendars in sync for about two years. When I tried to sync the second PC with AS to the phone, it started failing. The upper level message is that there is a problem with WCESmgr.exe. I have a C++ compiler, so when I click 'debug', I find that the real problem is with INKstore.dll, access violation at 0xC0000005. This usually happens while syncing Notes. I tried syncing with the Zire, and there was a problem with HotSync.exe. I exported everything to a new pst file, read that into a new profile and tried AS but had the same problem. HotSync now works; at least it receives changes from the second PC. I've seen many reports of this sort of problem, but no real solutions. I guess I'm just keeping the thread alive so maybe someone at MS will catch on. -John |

Re: AS crashes, error in WCESmgr.exe, INKstore.dll, 0x86000107
Hi,
You are creating a challenging synchronization environment with the multiple devices. ActiveSync was designed to be the SOLE synchronization source between 2 PCs. As for the error, it has to do with converting ink which can be stored in the notes field. I do not know of a fix for this. Re: AS crashes, error in WCESmgr.exe, INKstore.dll, 0x86000107
Hi Chris,
I expected to be able to use AS instead of KeySuite but there are a couple of problems: AS crashes and AS doesn't do a good job of syncing between 2 PC's even in the best case. The data stored on the WM device is not the complete Outlook record. I think I did make a couple of 'notes' where I drew with the stylus. I thought I erased them, at any rate I can't find them in the notes folder but maybe they are causing this problem. Is it possible Outlook/AS are not capable of working with these notes? I made a couple of voice recordings on the Treo and they were sync'd ok. I haven't contacted Sprint, as on the box they suggset calling Palm. That was an hour or two of my life that is gone forever and I'm actually in worse shape. I also called Palm about setting up a POP3 account and it was even worse. I'll try Sprint next.
