Syncing with 2 pcs, or even 1

I've looked in the manual for my Treo but they seem to presume it will just
work.

I don't like the choices about what to do when syncing:

combine (seems to double up everything)
replace item on my device (even if it's newer?)
keep item on my device. (even if it's older?)

It looks these are applied to all items, not just those that differ by date
or content. Is that right?

How should I set things so that item A is changed on PC1, item B is changed
on PC2 and item C is created on the WM device and after syncing, outlook
data on the two PC's is the same and the WM device has as much of the
outlook data as it is allowed to have. I realize this might take about 3
sync operations and there could be problems if the same item is changed on
more than one system. Other sync programs I've used could be set to prompt
the user in this case.

Thanks,

John

Re: Syncing with 2 pcs, or even 1

Hi John,

The dialog you see is usually shown when you are partnering the device with
the PC for the first time.

The 1st option will simply combine all the information (Pocket PC +
Computer) on both the devices.

The 2nd option will copy all the information from the Computer to the Pocket
PC. It will replace all the information stored on the Pocket PC.

The 3rd option does not synchronize the listed information types.

So looking at your requirement, the 1st option should get you A from PC1 to
Mobile and B from Mobile to PC1 so you have A&B on both sides. The same will
happen when you sync with PC2 .. but now your device has A&B and PC2 has C
so the same action should happen and you have A,B & C on the device and PC2.
On the next sync with PC1, you will have A, B & C on PC1 as well. Hope this
made it easier for you to understand.
