Powerpoint 2007: Applying my saved theme causes a crash
Hi,
This is a similar problem to the following thread: http://groups.google.com/group/micro...aea284c 622f7 Anbody got any fresh ideas on the following. I created a powerpoint presentation. I edited the master template to create a set of slides with different layouts and fixed graphics. I also set the colours and fonts to be used. I then went to themes and told Powerpoint to save the current theme. If I open a blank presentation and hover my mouse over the icon for my saved theme, Powerpoint tries to apply it. Powerpoint will then crash; something to do with ppcore.dll. You get the "Report and Recover my work" dialog. If I save my presentation as a template (dotx), I can create new presentations based on the template without any problems. The original presentation that the theme is based on will open/save/ close without issue. My best guess is that some component that is being referenced as part of the theme can't be read/executed and instead of telling me what, the software is crashing instead. Thanks for your help Dominic |

I don't have any ideas, but I would LOVE to take a look at the problem theme
and see if it happens here. That might be a start with troubleshooting... You can mail it to echos at indy dot net if you want. The font used is not a standard Windows font, so I'd have to save the theme with the font embedded. This means the file is 14MB and doesn't change if you try to zip it. Without the font embedded, the theme is less than 1MB. Not sure why font embedding causes such an explosion in file size. To rule out the font as the cause of the problem, I've tried saving the theme without the embedded font, only the characters used and the full font. Regardless of the variation, it causes Powerpoint to crash. Dominic |

If you save it with a different font, does it still crash? If so, then
create a version without the font and send that to me. -- Echo [MS PPT MVP] http://www.echosvoice.com What's new in PPT 2007? http://www.echosvoice.com/2007.htm Fixing PowerPoint Annoyances http://tinyurl.com/36grcd PowerPoint 2007 Complete Makeover Kit http://tinyurl.com/32a7nx "dplmartin" <dominic.martin@dtrack.com> wrote in message news:6db0bb74-988a-4f5c-9521-3aedf760904c@27g2000hsf.googlegroups.com...
