MS Project SchedulingError
Hi, I have Project Schedule have two or three sub-Project in this project, this Project I have left as checked-out befor 15 days but yesterday when again I try to open the project in read view mode..It gives one message window to ask "contains linked information. Do you want to re-establish the links?" I select there to not update links I get the error below(See attached file). after this when I click 'Ok' on this message window then I am not able to see my schedule task, It comes blank sheet, there are not task showing. I am not sure why it is not showing the Tasks. I am choosing the option not update links so Is this the reason no tasks show up in the schedule? Is there a way to open the schedule without it analyzing circular links? Is there a way for MS project to inform a user a circular link is being created before the project is saved? I am not certain it will be recovered. I would really like to understand how I can avoid having the project saved in a state that makes it unrecoverable. Please let me know anyone have any idea Thanks, Rahul +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Filename: error.bmp | |Download: http://forums.techarena.in/attachment.php?attachmentid=6494| +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ -- mukulbhind ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mukulbhind's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=27489 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=885478 http://forums.techarena.in |

Paste links are fragile and corrupt easily. You would be much better off to link tasks between projects using external predecessors/successors. With regard to circular relationships. Aside from the fragility of paste links, the single most prevalent reason for circular relationships is when a user puts links on summary lines. This is compounded when working with a master project with inserted subprojects. However, this may or may not be relevant in your case since you didn't mention any error messages warning about circular relationships. John Project MVP |
