Hi tracer,
Zoom In & Zoom Out are used as an alternative to quickly magnify or shrink the timescale level of detail on the gant chart but you can't use the same for the task list view  I hope this can help! However, you can "magnify" the field data by using a larger font size. And, it is much better to change the font under Format/Text Styles (general formatting for all tasks), than to specifically change font size under Format/Font, although for isolated tasks, the latter is preferred.
