disengage mail merge

Since the completed merge is too large to email, I have mail merge documents
emailed to me along with the data sources in excel. These spreadsheets are
being kept in xls form and used throughout the organization for consistancy
so I'd prefer not to change applications.
Since I am changing the source of the data ( from their computer to mine) I
have to re-designate that source in the mail merge. My problem is that those
choices are grayed out to me. My only options are Create or Edit Address
List and these do not allow choices of xls files.
I cannot find any place to disengage the mail merge once it is initiated.
"cancel" is grayed out. Can you help me stop the madness so I can start over?

Thanks!

Re: disengage mail merge

1.On the Tools menu, point to Commercial Printing Tools, and then click Color
Printing.
2. In the Color Printing dialog box, click the Composite RGB button, and then
click OK.
3. Point to Mail Merge on the Tools menu. Note that the Mail Merge Wizard is now
available.

Are you using a postscript printer? Are you getting an error? What version
Publisher are you using?

You receive a Publisher cannot continue error message when you try to print a
mail merge in Publisher 2003
