fields not displaying correctly in email merge
When creating an email merge document I have previewed the emails and they
appear correctly with names inserted as expected. However when I perform a test run on selected recipients the name field appears as <<field>> rather than the actual name. Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: fields not displaying correctly in email merge
Are you doing a test print? What version Publisher are you using? What do you
see when you do a print preview? Are you merging from Outlook? -- Mary Sauer MSFT MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://msauer.mvps.org/ news://msnews.microsoft.com "Arena Lounge" <Arena Lounge@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:59B55809-D08B-4B0C-B4DE-1CCD59DBF5F1@microsoft.com... > When creating an email merge document I have previewed the emails and they > appear correctly with names inserted as expected. Re: fields not displaying correctly in email merge
I am running an email preview in which everything looks fine. But when i send
to a test group of subjects instead of Dear Joe it comes up Dear <<name>> in the actual email sent. Publisher version is 2007 (trial version). I am using a specific list created for the merge so fields are not being merged from Outlook. I had been adding the field directly into a text box along with the body of the letter.I have just attempted another variant to achieve the same result by adding a greeting line in on its own and this appears to be working when sending the live email. Re: fields not displaying correctly in email merge
There is a 256 character limit in a merge field. Were you treating the letter as
a field? Looks as though you have everything under control.
