I thought I had this problem resolved, and I've looked all through the seach in this group and can't find any answers.
I had been using Publisher 2003, now 2007 and have the same printer Canon pixma ip6000D.
I have many saved Pub files set up, that used to print correctly, and I could use them just change pictures, text, etc and they'd print the way I want. Two cards to a page, and after printing, I'd cut in half and fold over. Using cardstock.
I hadn't printed cards for months, and last night tried to (either from my files or set up new) and even though I get it set up the way I want in Publisher (using the Page Set Up, top fold card 5.5 X4.25 quarter page fold, it shows it, 2 to a page like I want) when I click on PRINT (or Print setup/preview, etc) it says "one per page". And this is how it prints.
When I change the size and get it for "quarter fold card" it still shows it as one per page- 4 quarters (like using regular printer paper and folding the card so the paper is double). I've tried using 4 pages in the set up (like 1 and 4 for front and back, and 2 and 3 for the inside. I have duplex printing, at one time it would print 1 and 4 then bring the paper in and print the other side (inside). Or, I could put the paper in again, on the other side for this.
No matter what I do, it always says (on the printing) ONE per page. the picture either comes out right in the middle or on the bottom right, and the words (supposed to be inside) on the left top of the page. (I supposed the quarters could be folded to make the card)
I just want to use cardstock, printing landscape, coming out with 2 cards (picture both on the bottom) that could then be cut apart and folded like a tent.
Seems like when I did it before there was an ADVANCED tab (either on the Pub set up or the printer) I would click that brought up a page that showed sizes and if one wanted 2 to a page. (this was also used to set up address labels with the top and sides, etc spacing) I can't find this tab anyway, maybe it's not on 2007 or is now up top? I've spent hours (days) going over all this, clicking on all it might be (tables, formatting, etc) I've tried all the settings on my printer for page set up. I can get some that looks like it's printing 2 to a page, but no matter what size I have, it doesn't print like I want.
I remember someone here once asking something like this, and the answer being setting it up like a booklet (setting the size for the card) but even that, it doesn't come out with 2 exact cards side by side on one sheet of paper.
I thoght when I saved the card files (already made and working the way I want) the set up would save too, but since this doesn't work now, I'm thinking it must be something with the printer. I've tried to find something with the printer that would NOT set anything up, and just let it print the way it seems to be set up (correctly) with Publisher. Like default to program or something?

Hello Carrie,
Use the Avery US Letter template 5315 (4.25 x 5.5), insert 7 pages. Page two and
four will be the back of your cards, Publisher will automatically rotate the
objects. If you want everything to read correctly on the inside of your card you
will have to manually rotate the objects on pages 6 and 8
This is the only setup I can figure out to get two cards per sheet of paper.
There was another workaround but I can't quite remember how I did it.

The easiest way is to setup the printer for a custom size and cut the card stock
first.

Sometimes I get so confused with this (the setup stuff). I just get it
right and then it's not working for some reason.
I used to do it all the time (2 cards per page) and the cards I had saved
would print out the right way, so I'd use one of them as a template and put
something new on it, leaving it all set up.
I'll play around with it again.
I think one, maybe THE problem with things like this is the setup with
Publisher clashes with the setup on the printer.
I can see why people use commercial printing, but I've looked it up and for
what I want it for (this time I'm going to make birth announcements for a
new grandchild) doing them myself is all I need.

I tried it the first way, numbering the pages so I'd see what printed,
and it came out with four of each Pub page per piece of paper.
I'll try cutting it first.
Also, I can set it up in page layout in Paint Shop Pro, by dragging the
first page pictures onto the right side of the paper.
But that only does one page at a time (one side in this case) so anything
printed inside would have to be done separate with the other side.
I've just been trying to figure it out, it must have been something with
Pub 2003 that's different. There was a tab on one of the boxes that came up
that said ADVANCED (or advanced setup) I think on the bottom left of the
box. It allowed for setting up margins, and with some sides showed a
picture, like "2 copies per page". I used to use it to set up the margins
for address labels and business cards, too.
I'm sure I'll figure out a way to do it for what I now want (only a few
cards)
This is a scan of one of the cards I used to print BEFORE cutting. It
would come out of the printer like that, and if I had anything on the inside
(and had it set up correctly) the printer (duplex) would suck it back in and
print the other side. With any luck it would all come out the way I wanted
it (LOL)

Not sure if this is something like you meant, but I was determined to
figure it out. I was going to try putting Pub 03 back in, after reading a
lot in searches how 07 doesn't do good with printer interface. But, that
seemed like a bother.
I was getting a page printed out with a front, back, and inside of ONE
card on it, and got the idea, if I could set it up right (some text has to
be upside down) of printing it on both sides and ending up with 2 complete
cards when cut apart.. Not just side by side on the same page like I'd done
with 03 (I posted a screenshot of this earlier)
With some trial and error, I settled on a newsletter- 1/2 letter booklet
template. Size 5.5 x 8.5 (the notecards, when folded are 5.5 x 4.25 size) It
comes up with 4 pages. Front/back and inside. Tried it different ways, had
to rotate the text on one. But the print preview looks like this

My test card is nothing, just something I made up to try it (and show off
my new Golden Retriever puppy, Izzy (LOL)
One side is printed, then it's flipped over so the side that has the
picture (front) on the already printed side is lower right going into the
printer. Publisher setup and printer both set on landscape. Had to try this
various ways. Since my printer does duplex, I MIGHT be able to get it to
suck back in and do it correctly on the other side on it's own. The duplex
also has reverse. I haven't tried that yet. Printing once and flipping and
printing again isn't that hard now I know how.
This way the front and back of one card has the inside on the other side of
it, twice.
I wanted to try and explain it and show the screen capture of print preview
so if anyone else puts it in search.
Of course the way I did it in Pub 03 was simplier and two cards were
printed the same on one piece of cardstock but it ends up the same, when
they are cut and folded.
It seems like 07 doesn't allow for just printing on cardstock (single
paper- one fold) all I could find for top fold tent cards was a setup for 4
quarters (on one page) that was folded (in 4ths) after printing, like double
paper. One piece of paper for one card. I don't even know if cards you buy
in stores are like this anymore (they used to be). Seems like now most of
them are single layer, heavy paper or cardstock.
I went over just about all the templates and nothing seemed to be just one
layer- one fold (which would print 2 on a page like before)
I am going to keep the puppy card saved, and just replace the picture and
any text I want, in case I forget how I did it at some future point.
Of course, as long as I still have Pub 07 I can now come and look it up
here.
