How to set publisher 2007 as default program...

I have publisher 2007 and 2003 installed on my computer (my company wants to
keep the old version in case the new version doesnt work out).

Everytime I open one of my Publisher (.pub) files, it opens in Publisher
2003. My question is, how do I set all my .pub files to open in Publisher
2007 not 2003. I have searched high and low and cannot find an answer.

I have already attempted set the program default, but it does nothing. (I
Right-clicked, properties, Change Default program... Publisher 2007 is not
listed. I browsed for the .exe file for Publisher 2007 (which has the same
name as the file foe the 2003 version, which is MSPUB.exe) clicked in the new
version, ok, ok.... still no changes...?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The following steps worked for me:

Right click a .pub file and choose...
Open With / Choose Program...

Browse to...Program Files/Microsoft
Office/Office12...select...MSPUB.EXE /
Open.

Now you should see both Microsoft Office
Publisher icons in the Recommended
Programs list.

Select the one for Pub 2007 (the not perfectly
square one).

Check the box, "Always use the selected program
to open this kind of file" / OK.

This may help
To associate files with the programs that are included with a particular version
of Office, run the Office Setup program, and then click Repair Office. When you
do this, the file associations for that version of Office are registered.

Re: How to set publisher 2007 as default program...

Thank you for your reply, as I stated in the original post, I attempted to do
this already. It does not work to set the default. It does not give me the
option to select both of them.

This sounds like you want two defaults, which is not possible.

Re: How to set publisher 2007 as default program...

No, not two defaults. I only want the Publisher 2007 to be default. But in
the "open with" dialog box, I cannot select Publisher 2007, only Microsoft
Publisher, which is 2003. If I choose browse and try to find the program, it
wont add the 2007 version to the list. I cannot select the 2007 version.

I know what you stated originally and
I had the same result you did using
your method.

Hopefully Mary's suggestion will solve
the issue but if not...try the exact steps
I posted for you.

Re: How to set publisher 2007 as default program...

add it to the list?....no, follow John's advice...you browse to the
executable for Pub 2007. Did you try what he suggested?
it may get added to that list after it but that's not important.
