Copy/Paste dilemmas

Hi all, I have a number of questions regarding Copy/Paste on Visio. If you
can help me out with any of the following, it would be much appreciated:

1) Why Won't Visio allow me to "Copy/Paste Special/Link" from one page to
another page on the same Document? How can I fix this?

2) Why won't Visio allow me to select a few shapes from a diagram and
copy/paste special/link them? (I can only link a whole drawing or a single
shape. It will not let me to choose just a few and copy/paste special/link
them)

3) When I copy/paste a diagram from Power Point to Visio, everything gets
messy: Texts get unaligned, connectors become "simple lines" that are not
glued to objects, and when I move a box that had text on it, these two get
detached. How can I fix this?

4) Can I Copy/Paste Special and Link a Layer of a "master" page of a
drawing in a way in which
a) When I change the layer view on the "master" to include all layers,
this will NOT affect how the copy on the other page is seen. (only the copied
layer should be shown on the separate page )
b) A change to those copied objects on the "master" wil render
automatically onto the copy on the seperate page.
c) I can manipulate the copied version but still receive the updates
from the linked "master"

5) How can a make many shapes on different pages of a same document the
exact same size simultaneously?

Re: Copy/Paste dilemmas

Just a few questions eh?

1) I assume you mean that the first option Paste As Microsoft Visio Drawing
doesn't work when the Source is a Selection? (because the other options do
work for me on Visio 2007). Well, I think the answer is because the Source
is a Selection - perhaps the Microsoft Visio Drawing option should not be
presented to you, then you wouldn't think that it would be possible at all.

2) A Selection is only a transient collection, therefore it would never be
possible to Link to them (unless you grouped them). I think what is
actually missing is a Named Area in Visio (like some CAD programmes have) so
that you can link to a rectangular area within a specific page.

3) Are you using Paste or Paste Special in PowerPoint? If you use the
formaer, then it is getting converted to an image (with its associated
conversion approximations), but if you use the latter then you get the Visio
Object / Edit option on the right mouse menu.

4) I don't think so... I have previously done code to keep images
synchronised for something similar

5) Use the Size and Position window, provided that your selection shapes are
not 1D nor have Width/Height/Aspect protection on them ... but I do think
that a simpler Make Same Size option should be on the Actions toolbar (the
code is quite simple)
