Drag-and-Drop subordinates
I'm using Visio 2002 and modifying an old org chart. When I drop a
newly-created box onto a superior, the auto-link does not happen between the boxes. I originally created the org chart about a year ago and actually had time to manually create connecting lines between the boxes and I'm sure I did not create them 'correctly', not so today. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any/all input. |

If you've changed the inter-shape connectors then there is a chance that you've lost some of the information the org chart addon uses within the connectors to determine what is connected to what. Try deleting your own connectors and then drag and drop each box onto its superior (starting at the highest level). Do you get the appropriate menu and toolbar? (this will tell you whether the addon is being run). -- Regards, Paul Herber, Sandrila Ltd http://www.electronic-chip-packages.sandrila.co.uk/ |

Re: Drag-and-Drop subordinates
Paul,
Thanks for the reply. I actually did what you recommended below after I posted the question and got to a similar conclusion (it just took a while to find the stencils menu). I deleted the connectors and recreated some of the boxes using the File>Stencils>Organization Chart>Organization Chart Shapes (dropped the shape on top the superior). I think I need to (as you stated) start at the highest level. But to bring this to a close - it works. Thanks again.
