Win2003 SP2 Time Synch Mystery
Hi,
We have two Win2003 servers that ought not to automatically adjust for daylight savings changes, so that option was deselected for these boxes. Now we noticed that not only is automatically adjust for dst switched on but the boxes are pointing to NTP server "time.windows.com" (which they can't even ping). The only thing that we are aware of that changed on these boxes is SP2 was installed. We are pretty certain that no-one would have changed this setting without talking to us first. I'd REALLY appreciate some advice about what may have caused this config change on these boxes. Thanks, Stuart |

RE: Win2003 SP2 Time Synch Mystery
As far as I am aware, time.windows.com is the default NTP server which mat
have been reset when you installed the service pack. Are the time settings contained within the domain GPO? Just a thought. Btw, just because you cannot ping a server does not mean you have no network connectivity, some servers and routers are set to ignore ICMP packets to prevent DoS attacks via eg The Ping of Death "Kryten" wrote: > Hi, > > We have two Win2003 servers that ought not to automatically adjust for > daylight savings changes, so that option was deselected for these > boxes.
