Home folders map to root of share
Don't know if I am in the correct newsgroup. This has just started
happening and seems to be spreading: All users map their home folder U:\ to \\server\share\%username%. This has always been the case and there has never been a problem. I set this up in the user attributes, not in GPO. Now many users' U:\ is mapped to \\server\share\, but it is intermittent. Usually a reboot will correct it, but until rebooted, havoc prevailes. If a user has their U:\ drive made available offline, when they logon, it then tries to sync the entire share with all kinds of security violations. If I catch it happening, I will go into regedit and note that HKU\Volatile Environment\HOMESHARE is changed to "\\server\share" instead of it's normal setting of just "\" Surely there is a solution out there. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Michael |

Re: Home folders map to root of share
Correction....in regedit, HOMEPATH is messed up when it should be "\" and
HOMESHARE is \\server\share instead of \\server\share\username. In the future, please don't multipost - if you need to post to multiple groups, it's best to crosspost instead, by posting a single message to a handful of relevant groups (separate the NG names with commas) so that everyone can follow the thread. Multiposting wastes everyone's time, including yours, and may lead to your actually getting *less* help rather than more. See http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/mul_crss.htm <snip> |
