KMS - Does it require Non-virtual 08 Servers to count towards the
Does the KMS service only count non-virtual machines running Server 2008
towards the initial 5? I am trying to roll out 08 Std and am running into problems with getting my count # to go up. I think I have narrowed it down to actual servers vs virtual machines. I have done 7 upgrades with 3 being actual and that is the number the KMS Server is showing as its current count: 3. I figured that it would be 7 by now, but its not. I didn't see it anywhere that says specifically that the count is only on real servers... |

Hello Dan,
That would be correct. Only Physical machines are coounted. See this section on KMS Activation Thresholds in the following link http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc303276.aspx It talks about counting physical and not virtual machines.
