where would i find appliction faliures, crashes, etc. in windows 2

I had a problem where everyone was having problems with email, file maker and
other services. I was getting different issues and calls from diffrent
endusers. What steps should I take first if I am getting calls about multiple
services from multiple clients that are all running off the same server?
Would it be best to check the server and logs or start from each enduser. I
am trying to make a list for my trainee on what steps should be taken in what
order if this kind of problem comes up.

I'd always start with the event logs, but it's kind of hard to tell you
anything further without knowing what kinds of problems people were having &
what you run specifically.
