Intel Quad Core CPU

Hi

Can I assume that the power of an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz is
equivalent with four 2.4 GHz CPU? Faster? Slower?

It would be great if there is a bench mark that compares a quad core CPU
with four SMB CPUs.

Thank you,
Max

That's about it, yes. However, what are you comparing it against? A
Core 2 Duo will run circles around a P4 at the same clock speed.

There are a few other factors, a multiple-core CPU will tend to have a
shared cache of some sort, which if all other things are equal, is an
advantage in that a thread moving from one CPU to another won't hit
system RAM as often.

Re: Intel Quad Core CPU

Thanks for help.

This is an interesting point. Do you know any online article that compares
this with some numbers?

I'm not sure you can compare, are there Core 2 Solo processors that run
on quad-capable motherboards? If not, no direct comparison would be
possible.
