Very strange conflict

All, I have a twilight zone-kind of a conflict and I'm looking for ideas to
try and solve the problem. I use Windows Server to connect to my business
computer from home. Windows XP on both sides, obviously. I connect to my VPN,
then log on to my computer, usually without problems. Sometimes, when a very
large file is open on my business computer (a large ppt, for example), my
home computer simply shuts down as soon as the application shows up on my
home screen. This happens a few times in a row. I actually get someone in my
office to close the large file, or restart my computer in the office, to then
be able to log on by VPN. Any thoughts about this?
