word97 tries to save normal.dot

We're having a problem with word 97. Since creating a limited user (not
administrator) account to use for web surfing (windows xp), word (in the
user account) gives an error when trying to close the program that it can't
save the document. When I click "cancel" it then tries to save normal.dot
and says that changes were made to the global template - although I didn't
make or try to make any changes to it.

Help appreciated.

Re: word97 tries to save normal.dot

Word needs full access to create and delete in the folder where the
documents are held. This sounds like a permissions problem.

The normal.dot problem may be something different, as with the error closing
Word (are you using an HP printer?).

I suggest getting rid of the permissions problem first.

Thanks. I already had copied all the files into the "All Users" folder
which, according to what I read, was supposed to give permissions to all
users.

We do have an hp laserjet 4L which gave alot of problems installing after
upgrading from win98 to xp.
