cannot find msiexec.exe error
On windows (xp home) startup I was getting an msi installer is preparing to install window popping up... this was related to office 2003. I used the windows installer cleanup tool to fix this then tried to reinstall office 2003. I got the error message... "cannot launch C:\windows\system32\misiexec.exe the system cannot find the file specified" I have checked the folder and the file is there. I have tried unregistering and reregistering the file but again it can't be found. I have tried renaming the msi installer files to .old and reinstalling the msi installer but no success... if anyone has a solution for this I would be very happy indeed... -- tinman9898 |

RE: cannot find msiexec.exe error
I am having the same problem with a computer I am fixing. The only thing I
can see right now is that it might have something to do with spyware or the fact that the computer does not have a valid windows product key. I believe it has more to do with the windows installer which is probably unregistered after windows finds out that it is a pirated copy of windows. It occurs after doing a windows repair. After doing the repair on an authentic/genuine oem version of windows xp, windows update won't work. The updates download but won't install. You have to rename some of the msi installer files then reinstall msi installer. Then do a clean up off office before reinstalling. Thanks for your help... -- tinman9898 |
