Problem with file managers
I recently had to replace a HD that failed. When I reloaded the two
file managers I commonly use, PowerDesk and ExplorerPlus, I noticed that the file name and three-letter suffix appeared in different columns. In my previous settings, the name column also included the suffix which was repeated in its own column. The reason this is important is that I used to be able to change the name and suffix of the file in the first column, thus changing the file type, and the suffix would automatically change in the second column. Now the suffix is frozen and the file type cannot be changed. Sorry for the wordy explanation. Any help appreicated. Thanks. -- --------------------------------- --- -- - Posted with NewsLeecher v3.9 Beta 15 Web @ http://www.newsleecher.com/?usenet ------------------- ----- ---- -- - |

Re: Problem with file managers
Surely email the software house that manufactures third party file managers
! Whatever could such a file manager offer, beyond "bells & whistles" features, that MS Windows Explorer doesn't offer ? regards, Richard "Alf" <who@where.com> wrote in message news:47f55357$0$9727$9a6e19ea@unlimited.newshostin g.com... >I recently had to replace a HD that failed. Opening 2 instances of Explorer and tiling windows sucks ! To get your separate extension column ( suffix ) back in PD , Right click the columns at the top (eg Name ) and choose ext ( for extension) I don't see how it can interfere with your renaming as it only supplies a quick way to sort the files by group in the folder ? Hope that helps |
