IE7 Hangs loading this Newgroup webpage -maximized!
Windows XP Pro SP2
If this is not bizarre, I don't know. I've been trying to solve this problem for months. Loading http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...ne/newsgroups/ in IE7 causes it to hang with the CPU at about 60% and will stay that way forever. It happens more than 9 times out of 10, so sometimes I get through. Getting tired of ending iexplore.exe's process then opening IE7 and selecting the newsgroup's shortcut, I copied the Favourite to the Desktop. Double clicking the shortcut opened IE in a normal window, unmaximized. But now the web page opens fine. But if I press the maximize button IE hangs! Bizzare! I have tried: 1. Starting IE without Add-Ons = Not 2. Resetting IE zones = Not 3. Delete all, chkdsk, etc., etc. = Not 4. Anti virus off = Not 5. All Microsoft domains added to Trusted Zone = Not 6. Hosts file = Not The Nobel prize to the one with the correct answer! PS: Where is the thread for Internet Explorer 7? -- Help me help others, ju.c. |

Try a proper newsreader instead of the quirky web interface you are
using. Outlook Express Newsreader-Setting up http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/ou...snewreader.htm http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000...oups/setup.asp http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/resou...tm#setupmsnews http://rickrogers.org/setupoe.htm Agent http://www.forteinc.com/agent/index.php As to the IE7 group... The recommended newsgroup is microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general In a proper newsreader: news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...plorer.general If you must use a web interface: http://www.microsoft.com/communities...orer. general ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP Windows - Internet Explorer http://dts-l.com/index.htm On Fri, 4 Apr 2008 00:49:00 -0700, in microsoft.public.windowsxp.general, ju.c <juc@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: >Windows XP Pro SP2 > >If this is not bizarre, I don't know. > >I've been trying to solve this problem for months. Glad to be of service. (I didn't really need a Nobel prize anyway)
