Microsoft Streets & Trips 2008
For 2 days I have uninstalled and installed this program with no success.
I've tried everything in the book. The resgistry has been changed somehow. Running as administrator does not work. On this site I noticed that someone spent hours with a technician and it still was not resolved. I even wanted to reenter the key, but it won't open so that can be done. If I buy a new program will it install the correct registry entries? I really need this in my business and am desperate. Can anyone help? |

Re: Microsoft Streets & Trips 2008
Colin, I would have to try to re install it to get the error message. It was something about the registry had been changed and could not install. It instructed me to reinstall with the disk, which I did but nothing ever happens. All I can figure is something has srewed up the registry and taken out something needed for me to reinstall it. I thought however that the disk would provide all needed to get the program going. It is very frustrating, but perhaps an answer will come. I don't see how buying a new program would solve the problem if the old one doesn't install. Thanks for your concern. Polcat |

Re: Microsoft Streets & Trips 2008
Have you tried a System Restore to point before you installed the program?
Regards, Alan. Re: Microsoft Streets & Trips 2008
I'd try it, if it does no good it can't do harm!

Download and run the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility and reboot before
attempting another installation. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/en-us "Polcat" <Polcat@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:8FEA739D-981A-4D57-A4BE-53A72514928C@microsoft.com... > > > Colin, > > I would have to try to re install it to get the error message. Re: Microsoft Streets & Trips 2008
I have tried to use system restore to many of the back dates and the results are the same. It tells me that the system was unable to restore the machine. What can I do to make the restore feature work? I am perplexed about it. I was going to use it to try to help me be able to install the Microsoft Streets and Trips which will not reinstall of repair the old one. Nothing works. Thanks for any help you can give me. Polcat |

And if the install fails again, write down the complete and exact error message. Generally, going back to a month-old system restore point is chancy -- depending on what you've done during that time, you could end up with quite a mess. Moreover, if you have system restore points from that long ago, you are allocating *way* too much disk space for system restore (which may cause SR problems). For all you ever wanted to know about System Restore (including suggestions for the amount of space to allocate), see http://bertk.mvps.org/ -- Lem -- MS-MVP To the moon and back with 2K words of RAM and 36K words of ROM. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Guidance_Computer http://history.nasa.gov/afj/compessay.htm |
