XP Start Up and Safe Mode

Hi

I have a Packard Bell PC runing Windows XP, on start up there is a program
that hangs and freezes the mouse and keyboard. Ho do I start the PC in Safe
Mode to uninstall this program, in past versions of Windows I think you
could get in by using the F8 key but I don't get this option now.

Thanks

Nick

Hello, Nick::
I'm no expert, but you might want to try either F2, or Del (Delete
key), see if those work for you. Which specific key gets you into Safe
Mode depends on the manufacturer of the computer & the BIOS.
good luck [:-P

Same method. Start tapping it during the post

Those will get the OP into the BIOS, not Safe Mode

It's still F8

it's just a matter of proper timing

You need to hit F8 just after the bios messages

and just prior to the OS loading

if you hit F8 several times you will probably get it

On some machines, F8 will first display the boot options menu.
Just select HDD (use up/down arrow keys), press Enter, and tap F8
repeatedly, again. (I keep a right hand finger over F8, and press Enter with
my left hand, because you have to VERY quickly tap F8 after pressing Enter.)
