XP & DSL Question.

Yesterday I had a problem with my DSL connection in that it was
showing I was 'online' OK, but every web page I tried to access was
unsuccessful. I called my ISP to find out what the problem might be
and the service tech told me to go to control panel and check my
Network Connections. Instead of the standard "Local Area Connection",
it read "Local Area Connection 2". The tech told me to unplug the
power from my DSL modem for 10 seconds, power up and then re-boot. I
did and everything was OK, I could now access web pages. I asked what
caused the change and the tech told me I must have changed something
on the computer to make it change to another connection. I hadn't
changed anything and just an hour before the problem occurred, I had
been online with no problems. I'm not losing any sleep over it, but I
am curious if anyone else has ever had this happen.

Re: XP & DSL Question.

XP has a nasty habit of creating additional entries (#2 , #3.) I fill this
seems the because the "Plug and Play(no PRAY)" system. It is normal but a pain.
