Logonui.exe Error Message
My sister turned on the computer this morning and the logonui.exe error
message came up. We restarted the computer numerous times over half a hour, and it did not go away. This message said that the memory "cannot be read". I'm sending this from safe mode, where I checked on a previous solution someone offered about regedit.exe - windowsnt/software/windowslogon (I'm sorry, I cannot remember the exact path). I checked it and the data value is logonui.exe. We've been having the problem on and off for a couple of days, but not to the extent where we have to access files from safe mode. I would really like to go back to normal. Any help will be appreciated. I have all the XP CDs, AVG is up to date. Thanks |

RE: Logonui.exe Error Message
It fixed itself last time, I'm not sure how. I turned it on again at 06:45
to run a scan (I find it easier to run early in the morning). The message came up. I went into Safe Mode for a minute, thinking it would help. I restarted the computer from Safe Mode and the message kept coming back. I have tried twice to go in Safe Mode and it hangs at the point where the list ends and just before the Safe Mode screen comes on - ie it says multidisk..... and then hangs. I restarted the computer and CHKDSK is currently checking for consistency. I'm letting that run in case, I don't know if it'll help. The only new software I added was the upgrade to RealPlayer yesterday. It required a reboot, which I did. The first time - the message appeared. The second time - it went back to normal. I'm fearing that I might not even be able to access Safe Mode. As soon as CHKDSK has finished, I'll update this thread. What I do not understand is what is logonui.exe what it means why it keeps coming how to fix it "nass" wrote: > > > "tkbirdie" wrote: > > > My sister turned on the computer this morning and the logonui.exe error > > message came up. CHKDSK finished. It found a ton of errors, which it repaired and now it is
back to normal. "tkbirdie" wrote: > It fixed itself last time, I'm not sure how. I turned it on again at 06:45 > to run a scan (I find it easier to run early in the morning). The message > came up. Re: Logonui.exe Error Message
I ran Stinger and it came with no errors. I then restarted the
computer and the message appeared again. I'm still using Safe Mode to send these messages. I have coursework to do and I cannot do it in Safe Mode. I tried your link and it did not come up with any problems. I cannot run sfc in Safe Mode - it will not let me. A screen flashes and then nothing else. Re: Logonui.exe Error Message
Logonui.exe is: Windows Logon User Interface, located here: C:\Windows\System32\LogonUI.exe You can rename it to Logonui.exOLD and reboot your machine and see if that will help? Do you have this directory: C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\WER97ed.dir00 Go through these Cleaning steps: 1... Click start >> Control Panel >> Double Click Network and Internet Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window you will see these Options: General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs | Advanced . Click on General Tab (1st Tab on the left) and you will see a Button called [ Clear History ..] click on it to clear your History caches, then click on [Delete Files..] to delete Internet Files created over the time, click on [ Delete Cookies...] to delete your cookies left by visiting websites. Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option: [&] Browsing [ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box. = Then try to Disable the Add-Ons on your Browser somehow installed on your browser, On how to disable the Add-ons follow this: Click on Programs Tab and then click the Manage Add-Ons Button there Disable the Non/Not Verified Plug-ins/Add-ons ( you need to Renable them one-by-one later and see which is the culprit . How to manage Add-Ons: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883256 Scan for malware from here: SuperAntispyware - Free http://www.superantispyware.com/supe...freevspro.html RootkitRevealer v1.71 By Bryce Cogswell and Mark Russinovich http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sys...tRevealer.mspx Run a scan from here on-line: http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/d...d=ie&venid=sym http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx Download Avast Cleaner (off-line scanner) from here: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-virus-cleaner.html Have a look in the Event Viewer and send us the error messages you will see there in your next post: Open a Notepad, customize or minimize to the taskbar as you will need it later for this step to copy the error message on it. Open a run command and type in: eventvwr.msc click [OK] you will get the Event viewer control Panel. click on each of these: Application System Security Look in the right Pane/window for error message with red (X) or Yellow exclamation mark /!\ , double click each one to get more info about the causer. On the Event error properties message you will see: Up Arrow Down arrow Two pages Click on the two pages to copy the error message then bring up the Notepad you opened earlier and right click on the first line and select Paste from the list, this will paste the error message on a Notepad. Please don't duplicate the error message one of each kind will be sufficient. HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427/en-us Please we need just the error messages with Red (X) and don't repeat the error, just one of each kind and post them back in your next post. Re: Logonui.exe Error Message
I've decided that I'm going to reinstall XP. It has happened for three days
straight and might go away. If you want, I can send you the information requested from Safe Mode. My screen is no longer blue, it just remains black.
