Error Scheduling Tasks
I received the following error when I attmepted to schedule a task in Win XP
with SP2. while setting task information 0X80070005 acess is denied. I research Microsoft and came up with the following: In Run as: in the Schedule Task in the Task windows the computer name was put in automically and I put in a password. I never set a password under the Adminsitrators name because I did not want to do that each time I boot up the computer. I guess I am a little confused using the passwords. Where can I find my password or where can I set one up, so I can use the Schedule Tasks without continually running into this problem. Thank you in advance for your assistance Hank L Error message: "0x80070005 Access is denied. You do not have permission to perform the requested operation" View products that this article applies to. Article ID : 816731 Last Review : February 20, 2007 Revision : 3.1 SYMPTOMS When you try to complete a task under another user account, you may receive an error message similar to the following: An error occurred while attempting to set task account information. When you click the Details button, you receive the following error message details: 0x80070005 Access is denied. You do not have permission to perform the requested operation. Back to the top CAUSE This behavior occurs because, for security reasons, only members of the administrator group or users with administrative rights can schedule a task to run under another user's account. Back to the top WORKAROUND To work around this behavior, contact your network administrator to schedule a task for you, or log on as a user who has administrative credentials to schedule a task |

Actually you can't find it there - you can set one up or clear it, but it won't be displayed. Yes, by default, the Task Scheduler will not run a number of tasks on the local account if it does not have a password. This is for security reasons. If you don't want to enter the password every boot, use TweakUI to set autologon. HTH -pk > > > > Error message: "0x80070005 Access is denied. Re: Error Scheduling Tasks
Task Scheduler Fix
A scheduled task can be run without passwords: For Pro: Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Local Security Policy/Local Policies/Security options. In the right hand pane (third down). Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only. This is enabled by default, disable it.
