Failed Updates
I am sure this has been covered before, but I am using Outlook Express and I
do not know how to search the archives. I have XP Pro installed with SP3 and plenty of memory, both disk and on board (2gb). I tried Microsoft Update and received the message that 11 updates failed to install, even after several tries. Is there a definitive fix to this problem? The updates apparently downloaded OK. Thanks, Gordo |

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP installation: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144 NB: Also applies to clean installs, upgrade installs, and Recovery installs. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ gordo wrote: > I am sure this has been covered before, but I am using Outlook Express and > I > do not know how to search the archives. > > I have XP Pro installed with SP3 and plenty of memory, both disk and on > board (2gb). Re: Failed Updates
Try this
You cannot install updates that you download from the Windows Update Web site on a Windows XP-based computer. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934648/en-us "PA Bear [MS MVP]" <PABearMVP@gmail.com> wrote in message news:uwVP3oq6IHA.3856@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > CrystalBallİ sez... > > Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft > Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP > installation: > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144 > > NB: Also applies to clean installs, upgrade installs, and Recovery > installs. > -- > ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) > MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 > AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net > DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ > > gordo wrote: >> I am sure this has been covered before, but I am using Outlook Express >> and I >> do not know how to search the archives. >> >> I have XP Pro installed with SP3 and plenty of memory, both disk and on >> board (2gb).
