It means that too many programs/processes are going and you're running out
of resources. It rarely has anything to do with actual virtual memory. The
problem can be caused by a computer with insufficient RAM (how much do you
have?) and/or virus/malware infection or too many legitimate items running
in the background.

No matter what amount of ram is installed,simply R.click my computer,
properties,advanced,performance,virtual memory,change button,Highlite C:
drive,set to "let system manage" click set 2X,close out.

Fiddling with the virtual memory settings, *unless* the OP was messing about
in there and changed things, is not the first step in troubleshooting this
issue.

Doesn't that message show up if "system managed size" is set and XP needs
increase the size of the pagefile?
If that is the case, the OP does not need to take any action.

Sometimes that is the error that shows up but your conclusion that the OP
needs to do nothing is incorrect. If the OP is getting the error often
enough to warranty his/her posting about it (i.e, more than once), the
system should be troubleshot and fixed. The error shows up because of the
reasons I've already given. On a well-regulated system with enough RAM, the
error will not show up!
