How to stop WU telling me SP3 is ready

I am running Win XP Pro SP2 and don;t see a need to update to SP3 just yet. I
therefore want to stop WU telling me that SP3 is ready to download. Any
suggestions how to do this? (For some updates, it has been possible to
de-select them in the updates utility, but I can't see a way of doing this
with SP3.)

Many thanks in anticipation!

Adam

Re: How to stop WU telling me SP3 is ready

Hello Adam,

You will probably get some other opinions -- and suggested methods -- from
contributors here, but I recommend that you download a 'Service Pack
Blocker' tool from Microsoft at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

This will allow you to turn on Automatic Updates, but keep SP3 from
automatically being downloaded and installed for '12 months following
general availability' -- so it should be effective until May, 2009.

Is Automatic Updates set to "Automatic" or another setting, Adam?

Is Automatic Updates telling you that SP3 is ready to *install* or are you
being prompted to download (literally) it?
