Have you tried using Windows Installer Cleanup to remove all entries for
..NET Framework? Uninstall using the special tool or using Add/Remove
Programs. Restart Windows XP. Turn off your AV program (this is very
important!). Reinstall again up to .NET Framework 2.0 and step 3 above. Use
