Windows updates cause no boot
I just installed KB 941644 and KB 943485, and did a reboot. After the reboot,
I'm being given an lsass.exe application error. Same thing occurs in safe mode, last known good doesn't resolve this either. I'm having issues booting to an XP CD for some reason as well, so I haven't been able to try a repair install as of yet. I haven't been able to do a system restore either, since I can't get into any Windows mode. Interestingly, I've also run into 3 other Vista systems which went into a repair startup loop today after running Windows Update. Boot to WinRE, system restore doesn't resolve the issue. I'm being forced to do a clean OSRI on these three systems. KB 941644 pertains to both XP and Vista, so I'm thinking this may be the culprit. Ideas ? I'm resigned to do a clean OSRI on my XP system but I'd prefer to avoid it. If I can ever boot to the CD, I'll try manually replacing the file as well doing the repair install. Cheers, |
