How to extract Backup XP from my PC's OEM "bundled" DVD ?
Help, I need to install Backup XP but, do not have a Windows XP stand alone
disk. All I have is the Restore DVD you have to make when the PC is new. Attempts to talk to the HP service Tech failed to provide adaquate information. My machine is off waranty so both HP and Microsoft only offer PAID HELP. I am handicapped and the price is prohibative. Ultimately I would like to extract the entire Windows XP SP 2 disk but for now Backup XP will get me running again. I normally back up to a second hard drive manually but that getting to be a bother as the number of files increase. Jim Favre. -- Digitally yours, Jim Favre, M,I,S. If you don't have an XP CD, you can download ntbackup.msi at http://www.onecomputerguy.com/software/ntbackup.msi Also see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=302894 However, as backup programs go, this one that comes with Windows is probably the most primitive and least capable available. I recommend choosing a third-party alternative instead, such as the excellent Acronis True Image. -- Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP Windows - Shell/User Please Reply to the Newsgroup |
